Terms & Conditions

1. Drivers
No one other than the drivers named in the insurance proposal form may drive the hired vehicle in any circumstances.

2. Driving Licences

  • Drivers must be over 25 and under 75 years of age and have held a full driving license for at least 2 years.
  • In certain circumstances the lower age limit can be reduced to 21. (Drivers under 25 and over 70 will incur an additional insurance premium charge. Further details obtainable from Motorhomes UK Ltd).
  • The license must be unendorsed (except for speeding and parking offences) and must be produced at the time of collecting the vehicle.
  • Visitors from abroad must hold a current international driving permit or license (Foreign license holders will incur an additional insurance premium charge). Any current endorsements (within 3 years) will incur an additional insurance premium charge.
  • 2 Forms of proof of identity (including photo such as a passport) must be produced by all hirers at the start of the hire i.e. utility bills, Bank statements or credit card statements.
  • The hirer will be responsible for any speeding or parking fines and penalty points incurred during the hire period.

3. Insurance
Fully Comprehensive insurance is included within the hire charge. The vehicle is insured for the period of hire contracted ONLY, thus late return of the vehicle would incur a traffic offence under the road traffic act. Hirers are advised to take out additional personal holiday insurance. A £500 excess payable by the hirer, is applied to all vehicles. We reserve the right to obtain a pre-approval of any amount up to the insurance excess against the driver.

4. Period of Hire
The times and dates of the contract of hire must be strictly adhered to

NO REFUND IS GIVEN FOR THE EARLY RETURN OF THE VEHICLE

  • The hirer may travel in any European countries with the exception of Turkey as long as agreed with Motorhomes UK Ltd  prior to travel.
  • Travel in countries outside Europe is only possible after prior agreement with the Motorhomes UK Ltd. Written confirmation from Motorhomes UK Ltd and an additional insurance premium are required before beginning the journey.

The hirer may not travel in war or disaster zones.

Collection times: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Return times: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

  • After 11am you will not be insured and will be committing a traffic offence by driving the vehicle.
  • Collection or return times which fall outside the dates and times given must be agreed with Motorhomes UK Ltd.
  • The return of the vehicle is confirmed in writing, signed by the hirer and Motorhomes UK Ltd. Collection and return days are charged as per day.

5. Late returns
Since the times for collecting and returning motor homes are carefully planned, please return your motor home on time. A penalty of £25- per hour is payable for time between expiry of the rent agreement and the return of your vehicle (maximum penalty is daily rental charge). Should the late return of the vehicle make us liable for extra costs (e.g. compensation of the next hirer), we reserve the right to pass on these costs to you.
If you know you are going to be late please inform us as soon as possible.

6. Booking Details
 
Telephone and bookings by e-mail can be made, but will only be held for 5 days, by which time a completed Booking Form and a deposit of £250 per week of hire should have been received by Motorhomes UK Ltd. The booking deposit payment is not refundable under any circumstances and shall be deducted from the hire charges. Confirmation of booking will be emailed to you with an invoice in respect of the balance. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

7. Breakdowns
In the unlikely event of a breakdown, Motorhomes UK  request that the hirer seeks the help of the appropriate breakdown company quoting the registration number of the vehicle. Hirers are authorised to request repairs up to the value of £50. Repairs costing in excess of £50 must first be authorised by MOTORHOMES UK PRIOR to the work being undertaken. This will then be refunded on your return with proof of a works/job receipt. We can accept no liability for accommodation charges, replacement vehicle costs or other claims arising from breakdown accident or other causes.
In case of an accident the hirer must notify us by telephone immediately and complete an insurance claim form on your return.
Do not accept any liability & Call the police if there is a dispute.

8. The hirer agrees that he or she:
a) shall not carry more passengers than the seating capacity of the vehicle or allow the    vehicle to be overloaded
b) Shall not use the vehicle for carrying passengers or goods for hire or reward
c) Will be responsible to Motorhomes UK for the cost of making good and damage caused to the vehicle caused by improper use.
d) Understands that he/she is responsible for any fines (including parking fines) which may be incurred during the hire period.
e) Shall not, without consent from Motorhomes UK, remove the vehicle out of the UK mainland. f) Understands that no claim by the hirer for loss or damage to personal belongings or effects of the hirer or any person or persons will be considered.
g) Understands that any damage to the interior of the vehicle (including cigarette burns) living or cooking equipment will be charged to the hirer in all cases.
h) You must empty the toilet cassette at the end of the hire period. There is a £50 charge for un-emptied cassettes.
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all our motor homes
and if discovered, will result in a £1250 penalty

The hirer is responsible for the security of the vehicle at all times. The hirer must ensure that if the vehicle is left unattended at any time it is securely locked and parked in a safe, well-lit location and that any security devices supplied are used. Remember – the liability is with the hirer

9. Windscreens and Tyres
You are responsible for any damage to windscreens and windows, punctures or other damage to tyres during the period of the hire. Where possible it should be repaired or replaced as appropriate and paid for by you at the time. You should contact the operator to seek instructions before carrying out the repair. Failing this, an amount will be deducted from your deposit against damages for the cost of the repairs. You are also liable for any damage above cab height.

10. Cancellations
All cancellations must be in writing. All deposits are non-refundable. All monies due and received within 6 weeks of the commencement of hire are not refundable except the insurance excess/damage bond which is refundable provided that no other sums are unpaid by way of deposit or otherwise.
Cancellations must be in writing and are detailed below: –

  • More than 6 weeks before hire starts – loss of deposit
  • 4 to 6 weeks before hire starts – 25% of the hire charge
  • 2 to 4 weeks before the hire starts – 50% of the hire charge
  • 2 weeks or less – 100% of the hire charge
  • There will be no refund for early return of the motorhome.

Motorhomes UK reserves the right to cancel hire if, at the commencement of hire.
The drivers licences are invalid or not according to the conditions set out above. In these circumstances the total hire charge will be forfeited.
Hirers are strongly advised to insure against unavoidable cancellation.

11. Liabilities
The hirer is responsible for all costs and expenses incurred as a result of offences against the road traffic act and is also liable for any uninsurable damages including tyres, windscreen, and any internal damages or breakages. The hirer will indemnify Motorhomes UK from any liability.

12. Animals

All animals other than guide dogs have to be approved by Motorhomes UK Ltd at the time of booking. If approved, all damage howsoever caused by the animals will be charged to the hirer in full.

13. Parking
The hirer may park free of charge and at his/her own risk one car at Motorhomes UK Storage for the period of the hire

14. General
Whilst we make every effort to ensure the motorhome reserved is available, if due to circumstances beyond our control the motorhome is unavailable, we will not be held responsible in any way and monies paid will be refunded.

The motorhome will be supplied with a full tank of fuel the hirer must return the vehicle with a full tank of petrol. . The hirer is liable for all repairs if the wrong fuel is used. Oil and water must be checked on a daily basis and it is the responsibility of the hirer to keep the fluids at the correct levels. The motorhome will be equipped with two gas bottles of which at least one will be full. the hirer will be responsible for any refills.

Unlimited mileage is included in the hire.

PLEASE NOTE: a refundable deposit of £500 is required at the beginning of the hire cash or cheque and this will be returned to you on return of the vehicle as long as all agreed terms and conditions have been met.

15. Events Beyond the Operator’s Control
Unfortunately, events beyond the Motorhomes UK Ltd control occasionally affect bookings. When reference is made to such events in these Conditions of Hire, this means any event(s) or circumstance(s) which Motorhomes UK could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Motorhomes UK can accept no responsibility or pay any compensation, costs or expenses where the performance of your contract with Motorhomes UK is prevented or affected or you otherwise suffer any loss or damage as a result of events beyond there control. This includes any delays to and/or restrictions to your hire to which you may be subject. However, if your booking has to be cancelled as a result, Motorhomes UK, will of course try where possible offer you the choice of an alternative motorhome (if available) or refund as described above.

16. Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute may be settled in the courts of that country.
